Kjersti Lien Holte, associate professor in pedagogics at Østfold University College in Norway. Her Ph.D. is in working life science from Karlstads University, Sweeden. She has been a member of the ENIRDELM network since 2010 and chaired the ENIRDELM conference in 2021. In addition, she has worked with teacher education, supervision, and school development since 2010.
In 2009 she taught multicultural pedagogy in Nicaragua. In 2012 she invited her students to question the consequences of homework. In 2016 she published an article about how homework can be more child-friendly. In 2017 she led an action research project about how schools can be arenas that promote well-being in an upper secondary school lasting four years and researching how leadership, teaching, assessment, the buildings, relations, and attitudes towards vulnerability are essential factors for inclusion and health promotion at school, according to teachers and pupils.
She has since 2016 been a member of a professional council for social justice at her university, giving advice about educational issues when dealing with wicked problems to people in positions for public health in local municipalities.
Since 2018 she has been essential in building a decentralized arrangement for developing competence in local partnerships between local schools and universities. At the teacher education, she teaches a course called ‘The school in a pluralistic society,’ which deals with topics like democratic bildung, citizenship, how to learn from history, being a part of a professional learning community as teachers, and contributing to schools as learning organizations. This year she work on how to support educational leaders in leadership for inclusion and well-being in homework-free schools.
